RABID COAST

‘The world’s first documented rabies outbreak in marine mammals is happening now—and it’s changing everything we know about viral transmission.  In 2024, Cape fur seals off South Africa’s coast began exhibiting unprecedented aggressive behaviour, attacking surfers and beachgoers. What scientists discovered defied decades of marine biology: rabies had crossed from land to sea for the first time in recorded history.

This isn’t just another wildlife feature documentary—it’s a real-time scientific thriller unfolding in our oceans, with implications for marine ecosystems, human health, and our understanding of viral evolution.
